We will promote eating well. This definitely doesn’t mean lettuce and water only. That’s not our style because we just love food! As much variety and options as possible. With plenty of fresh ingredients; locally sourced where possible and ethically farmed. Just food that makes you feel good …
We will encourage you to have fun. When was the last time you laughed with a friend till your sides hurt? There is nothing more infectious or uplifting for your spirit than laughter. Joy is our soul food! We plan to practice happiness and want you to be a part of that journey too … we believe it helps change the vibration of our consciousness.
We will invite you to be at one with nature. Nature is a source of energy; it’s sensory and emotive. By creating many open spaces we’ll bring you close and allow you to be immersed in the natural environment. Experiencing the sounds and smells and vibration of the earth makes you feel alive and connected to the universe.
We love massage therapy and its associated benefits … and know most would agree that massage play an important part when managing stress and tension. At Aroha we plan to have a number of therapeutic forms of massage available; from reflexology to Indian head massage.
We will encourage you to spend time outdoors getting exposure to bright, natural light and fresh air; you know what this does to your mood levels right! It increases serotonin levels and the production of endorphins. Fresh air is a natural disinfectant that helps us clear up pesky infections and germs and sunlight gives our bodies the vitamin D we so desperately need after winter.
We will offer a choice of options to encourage you to be active; yoga, dance, walk, run, swim or hike … after all people who are physically active sleep better than those who are sedentary. Variety is key and will be available for all levels and hope you’ll be open to try something new. We understand that not everybody is comfortable with change but you’ll be in a safe supportive environment so just go for it!
We promote the glorious benefits of meditation but understand that mediation practice can be intimidating. It is normal to feel overwhelmed and uncertain as to how to get started. There are a few common styles that we will offer to support your experience. Guided meditation, visualisation meditation, mantra-based mediation, loving-kindness meditation, breath-awareness mediation … explore and be open to the experience.
We love music and dance! The most instinctive elements of our being … this is how ancient stories were told. Both music and dance are uplifting, exhilarating and liberating; you just have to watch the uninhibited behaviour of children to understand the joy. Like the lyrics from Come from the Heart: “You’ve got to dance like there’s nobody watching, You’ve got to come from the heart if you want it to work.” At Aroha we plan to celebrate this way and invite you to do the same.
At Aroha we plan to host a number of creative experiences so get your creative on! No one is born without that creative spark because that piece of ourselves is our innate curiosity. We encourage you to release your creative … get messy, abandon all reservations and fear of judgement, and have a go at creating unique and beautiful things.
These are fundamental elements that support our wellness belief … and we hope the Aroha community legacy.
“Life is full of delightful treasures, if we take a moment to appreciate them. I call them ahhh moments, and I’ve learned how to create them for myself. Moments like this are powerful, I know for sure. They can be your recharge, your breathing space, your chance to reconnect with you.” Oprah Winfrey – What I know for Sure.
